2 What do we know about classification?
There is an 8-level classification system. The “domain” is very broad and the “species” is most specific. The scientific two-part name consists of the genus and species. A dichotomous key can be used to identify an unknown organism.

3 Introduction to Classification
How are living things grouped together? Use a simple classification key to identify an unknown substance. Analyze structural, behavioral, and physiological adaptations to predict which populations are likely to survive in a particular environment. Today’s Goal: Use a variety of classification keys to identify unknown organisms.
