2. History & Highlights
Pro football and the Decatur Staleys was founded in 1920 by George Halas.
The team’s home site was Wrigley Field.
In September of 1920, the American Professional Football Association was founded, and later renamed the NFL.
In 1921, the Decatur Staleys became the Chicago Staleys and won the APFA title with a record.
In 1922 the team becomes the Chicago Bears.

3. The first NFL game played indoors was at the Chicago Stadium December 15, 1930 against the Chicago Cardinals. The Bears won before 10,000 fans.
The NFL’s first championship game is played in 1932, with the Bears winning the title.
In 1940, the Bears win the NFL championship again. The beat the Washington Redskins This game still holds the record for worst loss in NFL history.

4. In 1970, the players moved from Wrigley Field to Soldier Field.
The NFL and AFL merged, and George Halas was named the NFC president.
George Halas passed away in Michael McCaskey, George’s grandson, took over as the third NFC president.

5. The Bears have won 9 World Championships, 27 players have been inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame (many believe Brian Urlacher will be added), retired 13 jerseys (the most in the NFL) , and had over 700 victories.
