Who are we? Healthcare students passionate about global health education and advocacy – we all strongly believe that taken a global approach to medicine is important to our study We set up events and conferences aimed at educating ourselves and our peers on topics such as poverty, human rights, globalisation, gender issues and health inequalities. #Globalhealthis Educate, Advocate, Act WHAT IS GLOBAL HEALTH?
1. Maternal and child health – in some parts of world, less than 20% of births are attended by skilled health worker 2. Access to healthcare – only 8 of the worlds 49 poorest countries have any chance of financing a set of basic health services with their own domestic resources by 2015 3. Affordable medicine – ethics 4. Sustainable Development Goals Organsiations that we are afflitated with – beneficial to both sides – raise awareness but also we can experience how organisation runs Educate, Advocate, Act

What is Medsin? Our Vision: ‘A fair and just world in which equity in health is reality for all.’ Our Mission: ‘To create a network of students empowered to effect tangible social and political change on a local, national and global level through education, advocacy, and community action. WHAT IS MEDSIN? Medsin empowers students to make a change in the world and to educate themselves about issues affecting their health, and the health of people worldwide.

Medsin by the numbers 2015 Medsin UK is a charity run by students with the vision of ‘a fair and just world in which equity in health is a reality for all. The network is comprised of students from over 30 branches across the UK which work through education, campaigning and community projects to improve the health of our communities at home and around the world.

Oct 17 - RIGHT TO CARE: A training workshop on refugee healthcare rights Global Health Film Festival – Nov 11-12 Organising trips to conferences Medsin Autumn Weekend (Oct 15-16) – Brighton Medsin National Conference: “Glasgow’s Call to Action” (Nov 12-13) - Glasgow Informative monthly newsletter What is going on in the world of Global Health St. George’s 2nd Annual Global Health Conference! (Date TBA) The Medsin National Conference this year will be focussing on how we as a group of people can improve the health of those people who are affected by the refugee crisis and the poverty crisis. Expect inspiring speakers from around the world who will share with you their experiences, from working in conflict zones to new ways of working with vulnerable groups here in Glasgow to bring about improvements in health. We hope that you will leave the conference not only inspired, but able to create change.
