How to describe a graph Otherwise called CUSS
Do after Features of Distributions Activity
2
3. Shape of the Distribution
refers to the overall type of the distribution symmetrical, uniform, normal, skewed, or bimodal
3
Symmetrical refers to data in which both sides are (more or less) the same when the graph is folded vertically down the middle bell-shaped is a special type has a center mound with two sloping tails
4
Shape----Bell-shaped curve----Symmetric
Descriptive Terms of Sampling Distribution (Histogram) and Model (Red Curve) Shape----Bell-shaped curve----Symmetric
5
Uniform refers to data in which every class has equal or approximately equal frequency
6
Uniform Population Model
Total area under the curve (model) will always equal 1.
7
Skewed (left or right) refers to data that is spread far and thinly toward one side the direction of skewness is on the side of the longer tail
8
Descriptive Terms of Population Models
Two Examples of Skewed Right
9
Bimodal (multi-modal)
refers to data in which two (or more) classes have the largest frequency & are separated by at least one other class
10
Bi-Modal Data
