1
Solutions/ and Ph
2
Acid 0-6 on the ph scale Tastes sour
The closer to 0 the more dangerous Can burn/ cause itchy skin Found. In: orange juice, tomatoes, vinegar
3
Base 8-14 on ph scale Tastes bitter More dangerous near 14
Can be just as dangerous as an acid in certain forms Found in : soap, ammonia, antacids
4
neutral In the middle of the ph scale at 7
There are not many neutral solutions (yes even water) No taste, reaction, etc……
5
solutions A mixture between a solute and a solvent
Which is a mixture between a solid and a liquid Yes like Koolaid You can Dilute a solution by adding water to it.
6
solute Anything that you can put into water and dissolve
7
solvent A liquid (universal= water)
8
precipitate Solid from a liquid (crystals)
9
solubility The ability to dissolve a solute into a solvent (mixing it up)- heat allows mixtures to dissolve faster.
10
Concentration The amount of solute dissolved in the solvent
High= a lot of sugar in the koolaid Low= not a lot of sugar in the koolaid
11
saturated How much solvent in a solute Super= A lot/ flooded Low= dry
12
Homogeneous Same throughout
Ie- you cannot separate the mixture one it has been mixed and if you are eating/ drinking it each drink/ bite tastes the same.
13
Heterogeneous Not the same throughout
Can be easily separated (like salads/ pizza) you can remove the parts you do not like.
