2 Background information linking to coastalisation
So what is coastalisation? It is the concentration of people and buildings in coastal locations. Although not technically a word it is used an increasing amount because of this trend.

3 What causes coastalisation?
New immigrants usually move straight into coastal areas. There are many urban attractions in coastal areas encouraging more people to visit. House prices are cheaper in coastal towns so many younger families move there.

Issues that arise when coastalisation occurs include: Limited resources-farmland and fresh water Overpopulation Rising house prices Greater demand services The coast is vulnerable from flooding and erosion

Issues that arise when coastalisation occurs specifically effects Australia: Australia’s coasts suffer from serve droughts Due to the serve droughts this lowers crop yield New immigrants usually move to a coastal settlement

6 Possible solutions to control the problem
Spend more money on regenerating or rebranding a non-coastal area to attract tourist and visitors there. Build more homes within cities and non-coastal areas to lower house prices. Give tax incentives for companies who locate in non-coastal places.
