Discuss Theme & Relevance
Writing Prompt: How do setting and mood contribute to the writer’s theme? Is this a story of hope or despair? Discuss the concept of what is “magical.” What big idea is at work? What is the warning? Do we live in a fairy tale or dystopian world?

Intro Paragraph Begin with the TAG- “Title,” author, genre
Give a brief plot summary (2-3 sentences) setting/character/conflict Identify and explain the 2 settings and mood Thesis: Explain the theme of the story. +5 sentences/no 1st POV/No quotes!

Body Paragraph Analyze one setting and mood Use +2 quotations
Begin with a topic sentence-use the words setting and mood Describe this setting and its mood THEN state a quotation and explain symbolism. Do this twice. Explain the significance of this setting.
