Cultural Diffusion – the process of spreading cultural items from group to group or society to society
Cities expanded

7. THE GREAT MIGRATION
Many people left their farms for the cities seeking better job opportunities
Great Migration – the mass movement of African Americans who fled the rural south for the urban north
Wanted to escape prejudice and discrimination for better paying jobs in the north

Cities became more diverse
African Americans changed cities economically as consumers and workers
Cultural impact through music and literature
