3 Rome’s central location & navy and army controlled the Mediterranean Sea to dominate the region

4 Through the building of roads and bridges, the Roman Empire could quickly move people/armies

5 Expanded the democratic process learned from Greece

6 The expansion of territory was easy because of the lack of physical barriers

7 Feudalism was based on agriculture, during this time there was a large amount of crop production

8 Cities provided protection against other enemies and helped speed up the spreading of new ideas

9 Trade routes throughout Europe made it easy for new ideas to spread quickly

10 Geography made the it difficult for Rome to exert their power in Central Europe

11 Exploration was important for new areas of resources and new technology made it possible

12 Through the spreading of ideas, revolutions changed Europe forever: leading to urbanization

13 After the war was over Germany had enemies on the east and west side (France and Russia)

14 The war was caused by: Germany, Italy, and Japan wanted to expand their land and resources

15 Created the “Iron Curtain”, the split between Eastern and Western Russia
