2. Social- Development and transformation of social structures
The people in India used the caste system as their social structure.
It separated everybody into distinct classes depending on their families, occupations, and what religion they were.
The Indians during this time used the joint family system. It was a family business that the family would create and everyone would contribute resources and the money is then put into a common fund. The younger family members were encouraged to join the system.

3. Political- State building, expansion, and conflict
There were four varnas, (classes), that the Vedic Aryans used. The Ksatriyas job was to govern.
Ashoka was a major ruler during this time period, and ruled with Buddhist policies
Ashoka did not tolerate any religions beside Buddhism, causing many angry citizens to revolt

4. Interaction between humans and the environment
The Aryas first appeared in Northwest India sometime around 1500 B.C.. These are the people that the Hindus got the caste system from.
This time period was a “golden age”, meaning technology flourished

5. Cultural- Development and interaction of cultures
People in India practiced Hinduism, Jainism, and Buddhism as their religion
They believed in Reincarnation, and that to be reincarnated into a good being, you must practice good Karma and Dharma.
The caste system was a major cultural institution. It determined what jobs people could have, whom they could marry, and with whom they can socialize with.

6. Economic- Creation, expansion, and interaction of economic systems
The economy was isolated and self sustaining
Agriculture provided most of the jobs
India had the worlds largest economy
