2 eTDE – Supporting Electronic Trade
This is what you would see if you logged into AMS’s secure website. eTDE is an industry initiated system. The Aflatoxin certificates were the first certificates mapped and entered into eTDE.

3 System Objective To make trade documents available electronically through the Internet to facilitate the domestic and international movement of US agricultural products.

4 Features and Benefits Provides users with the ability to access commodity-related trade documents as PDFs and document data as XML files Electronic document management eliminates the need for hard-copy documents that may be lost, damaged, or stolen Allows authorized product owners, shippers, carriers, brokers, owners, and port agents 24 X 7 access to critical information Securely hosted by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Agricultural Marketing Service (USDA, AMS) Secure access validated by USDA’s eAuthentication service Some importing countries may not be able to support XML technology, but they may be able to access the PDF’s of a certificate The ultimate goal of electronic certification would be to eliminate paper documents. However it may take time for countries/border inspectors to become comfortable with electronic data exchanges. Real time access to information to authorized stakeholders will decrease detainments at the POE for US agricultural products.

5 Investment Information
Development amounting to $720,000 funded by FAS through the peanut and dairy trade associations Application development performed by an industry-contracted developer AMS supports web site and document storage Trade association governance group to coordinate change requests and funding for long-term operational support Industry worked with AMS to develop a system that would address their need to deliver lab tests, official certificates and other appropriate documents to the CA of the importing country. The website is hosted on a secure USDA system requiring identity verification in order to access the information.
