1 Facilitate Learning K-12 Presents

2 Challenges Faced with Addressing Fact Fluency
Textbooks offer limited resources on fact fluency. Pacing Guides allow limited time spent on basic operations. Students learn at differing paces. Students don’t always see the significance of fact mastery.

3 What is Needed to Address Fact Fluency?
A program that is Systematic Self-Paced Motivating Ongoing throughout the year Easy Set-Up Allows for extended thinking and exploration of related concepts to build schema and increase number sense.

4 Math Facts with Sidney Answers Those Demands
Supports association between math problems and answers while allowing for application, exploration, experimentation, and creativity. Includes several options for adaptability on a per class basis. Allows for self-pacing. Fosters a sense of community within the class as students engage in activities together, encourage each other, and celebrate successes!

5 Basic Progression of Program
Pre-Test is administered. Practice activities are done at each level. Math Minute assessment is done for each level. Students achieve the rank of “Fact Master” upon completion of the program!

6 Pre- / Post- Tests Given at the beginning and the end of the year.

7 Fact Cards Students will Scramble, Match, and Check at least 6 times and more if needed. FRONT BACK

9 Written Sums / Products Page
Students will complete a Written Sums (Products) page using the facts from that level. Written Sums / Products Page

10 Students will complete a Fact Practice page with the problems for that level shown both in ascending and random order. Fact Practice Page

11 Speed Drill Page Students will complete a Speed Drill page to enhance automaticity with the facts on each level.

12 Students may participate in FACTO games or Extended Thinking Activities.

13 A GREAT Option for Centers
This game played with peers and/or teacher, paraprofessional, parent volunteer, student volunteer, etc. Played like LOTTO. Fosters recall in a fun way. Allows for review and additional level-specific practice with facts.

14 Related Facts (Fact Families) Page
There’s also a related facts or Fact Families page when inverse operations are introduced.

15 Math Minute (Level Assessment)
Students will take the Math Minute assessment for that level. 33

16 Options for Tracking Progress

17 Necklaces A letter bead is awarded for each level mastered.
Free beads are given at the beginning, after FACT, and after MASTER. Names are added to the FACT MASTER Wall of Fame.

18 Progress Charts Students color in each letter box as they complete that level. One copy per student. Master copy included in kit.

19 Wall Tracker F A C T M S E R John Beth Kim Timmy Marco Laura Shelly Darla Joe Put the FACT MASTER sign up on the wall and move student names as they pass each level.

20 Teacher GRADE BOOK Math Minute scores can be used for weekly grades and can be a way to privately monitor student progress.
