Forthcoming Birthdays April - Frank Forbes, Maureen Boyle May - Mary Murphy, Siobhan Ronan & Mary Askins. June - Joan Elliott, Margaret Molly Doyle. July-Joan Quirke, Tess, Phyllis, Marie Grainger Our thoughts on Easter Nancy W wants us to remember that if Christ had not risen all our teachings would be in vain. Kathleen reflects on the passion of Jesus Christ-a very holy time. Billy L agrees Easter is a very special holy time. Joan E recalls this rhyme from her childhood ”caming palm (palm Sunday) Paste egg day (Easter Sunday)”. John Joe fondly remembers his Easters spent alter serving as a boy in the Shannon Chapel, which would be packed to the gills. Bill M enjoys the horse racing from Aintree and the Grand National. Jim R was busy all year round with his pigs even at Easter. Paeda would be in the farm on his Tractor ploughing and enjoy the calving & lambing, a really lovely time. Food is an important part of Easter, Kitty loves to celebrate with a roast chicken and stuffing Dinner however, Joan Q choice would be lamb & mint sauce. Timothy and his wife Susan would love to have all the family together, as would Sean. Frank, Pidge and Dolly would enjoy Easter egg hunts & then Munching away on them yummy. Claude likes this time of the year and the longer days sitting outside in our garden lapping up ice-cream. Dolly cannot wait to get out in the Garden and start planting for the season ahead. When Tess had the public house in Ferns she would enjoy Good Friday as the Pub would be closed. Eleanor rightly says That Easter is a time of much happiness. Hello A Big Valentia welcome John Barton, Timothy Byrne, Eileen Gahan. Sad Farewells Ann Doyle, John Barton, David O’Kelly, Gertie Sheahan, Charlie Nolan. All had become important members of our family & will be sadly missed. Individual and group Activities with Jackie take place five days a week. These sessions include “Sonas”, reminiscing, arts & crafts, sing a longs, Meditation, exercise and bingo. Our oratory or Library is full of action every morning, with Rosary. All are welcome to participate and if any family wish for their loved ones to be assisted to the Oratory – just ask! Mass is said most Saturday mornings and Church of Ireland’s service on a regular basis. Our exercise class happens every Friday with “Fit for Life” both individual & group Each Wednesday our hairdresser Siobhan opens for business and once everyone is dolled up, Brian Toomey comes for a song and dance session. Residents Easter Raffle The Residents Easter Raffle takes place on Holy Saturday at 3pm in the Library. Religious Services for Easter Catholic mass at 11am Holy Saturday in the Oratory. Church of Ireland service at 2pm Holy Saturday in the Oratory. Planning Permission Kieran, Caroline and Billy are hoping to be granted planning permission for 8 new bedrooms this coming year, which I am sure will be a very exiting time for us all. Fingers crossed.
