Shrove Tuesday Next week it is Shrove Tuesday.
Word Next week it is Shrove Tuesday. Shrove Tuesday is the day before Lent begins, the day before Ash Wednesday. Today it is often known as Pancake Day!!!!

Shrove Tuesday Word It was once a custom that people would not eat any fat, meat or eggs during the season of Lent. The Tuesday before became a day when pancakes were eaten to make sure that all the fat and eggs that were in the house were eaten up before Lent began.

Shrove Tuesday Word Shrove comes from the word ‘shrive’, which means to confess. To confess (in this context) is to acknowledge when we have done wrong. Many Christians use this time to acknowledge the reality of their failings and resolve to live a better life.

Shrove Tuesday Word Acknowledging the reality of our failings is often the first step towards putting things right.

Shrove Tuesday Word Confession stops us from hiding, covering up or pretending we are someone we are not. By facing up to our failings we are able to be honest with ourselves and others and live a life of integrity.

Shrove Tuesday Word Confession challenges us to stop blaming others. It empowers us to take responsibility for ourselves and others. Confession is an opportunity to break free from shame or embarrassment about our failings. It gives us the courage to make a change.

Shrove Tuesday Word Confession stops us dwelling on our past failings and enables us to move forward in hope.

Shrove Tuesday Response At some point today you may find that you have some rubbish to get rid of. This could be a crisp packet or a sweet wrapper. While holding the rubbish in your hand you may want to take the opportunity to consider something you need to confess.

Shrove Tuesday Response Think about what may have got in the way of good relationships, and what you will need to apologies for. Remember that you don’t need to carry that rubbish around with you. Throw the rubbish in the nearest bin and resolve to put things right.
