2 Country Profile Sudan is located in East of Africa , Sub Sahara and Horn of Africa region beside Sudan part of the Middle East region as well. Surrounded by 7 Neighbors , 4 of them are landlocked. Egypt, bordering it to the north, Libya and Chad to the west, and Eritrea and Ethiopia to the east and south sudan to the south

In 1997, the U.S. government imposed a comprehensive trade embargo on Sudan and an asset freeze against the government of Sudan. In 2006 and due to Darfur conflict the U.S. imposed additional sanction.
