1. Towards Hydrocarbon Analogues of the Porphyrins

Mono- and dicarbaporphyrinoids: We have completed the synthesis of new carbaporphyrinoid systems with pyrazole or pyridine subunits, as well as mixed heterocarbaporphyrinoids. New examples of dicarbaporphyrinoids have been prepared via fulvene intermediates. In addition, a mesoionic system with two adjacent azulene subunits has been isolated and structurally characterized.
