Inspired by my comments from friends about pen tattoos My most popular requests were tigers, flowers, and dreamcatchers

What about drawing are you interested in? Why are you taking this class?

4 Observational Sketching is a Formula
Extra tips for specific things will help but for the most part it’s just a few principles and tricks And PRACTICE You don’t need how to draw xyz books Other: fancy stuff, stylistic things, etc.

5 About this Class For everyone Improved observation drawing skills
Improved hand-eye coordination and attention to visual detail Spatially oriented thinking and documentation Convey 3D ideas into spatially logical 2D visualizations Visually express thoughts, ideas, and prototypes Experience drawing whatever you are interested in (still lifes, engineering drawings, animals, buildings, portraits, etc.) Understand basic design principles

6 Materials Paper, pencil, pens. Optional: varying levels of HB pencils, and nice ink pens. A good eraser (highpolymer) and whiteout Paper, preferably a sketchbook ( at least 8.5” x 5.5”) That’s it! Bring these to every class

8 Assignments In class Assignments- guided practice
Take home Assignments- me your picture by Tuesday night (or earlier) Feedback- comments from me and peers (constructive criticism only!) The real trick to learning sketching is practice and learning from mistakes!! Lectures are just for tricks and general stuff

9 Grading This is a half credit pass/fail class
Do the assignments to the best of your ability and you will be  No number grades because everyone has a different background and I’m hoping that everyone is intrinsically motivated to do well
