2. Introduction
Alma provides a mechanism to send highly customizable letters to patrons, librarians, and vendors.
Letters include warnings, confirmations, notifications, summary information, orders, fulfillment requests, and so forth.
Depending on the type of letter, it can be sent to a printer or sent by , SMS, ISO protocol, or other means.

The actual configuration of the letters is done under ‘Configuration > General > General Configuration’

4. Introduction
Letter s = Allows staff to configure the labels (text) of each letter without needing to edit the actual xsl of the letters.
Letter Activity = Allows staff to enable or disable a letter. By disabling a letter the institution can determine that the letter will not be sent.
Letter Retention = Allows staff to determines how long letters are retained in attachments tab of the user. A weekly job, Letters Purge with Retention, deletes all enabled letters, if they were created more than the configured number of days ago.
Notification Template = Allows staff to test the output of a letter
XML To Letter Admin = Allows staff to register a user to receive the XML of a specific letter. The XML is then used in ‘Notification Template’
Customize Letters = Allows staff to configure the XSL of each letter to configure, for example, what data will appear and how.
