Starch = corn starch Protein = Albumin Lipid = Cooking oil Stomach Contents

3 Carbohydrates (Glucose)
Benedict’s Test In a test tube, add 10 drops of your sample Add 5 drops of Benedict’s solution Place the tubes in a hot water bath for 5 minutes Use test tube clamps and hot pads Record detailed observations Indicator = color change

4 Carbohydrates (Starch)
Iodine Test In a well tray, add 3-4 drops of your sample Add 2 drops of Iodine solution to the well Record detailed observations Indicator = color change

5 Proteins Biuret’s Test In a well tray, add 3-4 drops of your sample
Add 2-3 drops of Biuret’s solution to the well Record detailed observations Indicator = color change

6 Lipids Drop Test Draw three separate circles on a piece of paper, label 1, 2, 3 Place a drop of the sample on its respective circle 1=water, 2=cooking oil, 3= stomach Wait to dry for 5 minutes, and record observation

7 Lipids Sudan III Test In a well tray, add 3-4 drops of your sample
Add 2 drops of Sudan III solution Record observations in detail Indicator = color change, layering

8 What to wear Close-toed shoes Goggles Apron Oven mitts (if needed)
