The Big Idea
The United States began to tear apart over the issue of slavery and states’ rights. Finally, something had to give. The Civil War erupted in South Carolina, and lasted from In the end, North and South reunited, the country was reconstructed, but Abraham Lincoln, perhaps our greatest president, was dead.

Objective: TLW identify and explain causes and events leading to the Civil War
Activity: Have students write the warm up in their journal, discuss. Then introduce the project they will be working on using the power points. Then have students begin their research. They will use their textbooks and journal pages 9-11.
