5. The Oka crisis
The town of Oka was developing plans to expand a golf course and residential development onto land which traditionally been used by the Mohawk. It included pineland and a burial ground, marked by standing tombstones of their ancestors.
Native Canadians protested against the government because wanted to build a golf course on Native burial ground. This is called The Oka Crisis
