1 Honorary Service Awards
PVP Council PTAs - HSA Training Honorary Service Awards Honorary Service Awards (HSA) are to recognize the service and dedication of both individuals and organizations. Contributions to the HSA Program provide funds for the California State PTA Scholarship and Grant Program.

2 Forming the Committee The unit HSA chairman and committee is appointed by the president. Check your bylaws! The committee should be composed of different members each year and should be representative of the school community. The HSA committee consists of an uneven number of people (five is recommended).

3 Selecting Honorees Publicize to your membership and school community the nomination form (Ex. PTA News Letter, School Website, etc.) Review PTA awards Unit specific awards(ex. Sea King Award, Panther Award, Rookie Award, etc.) Confidentiality! Do not decide anything over . Consult with your President, EVP & Principal. Make sure to look at past years’ nominees and awardees. Consideration should be recognized for outstanding service to children and youth, and not necessarily for routine, assigned responsibilities or for retirement. Awards are NOT a thank you, they are for outstanding service.

January - publicize to the school community February – Nominating Committee meets March – finalize honorees and order specific awards & pins April/May – Ceremony details Remember to… Send out invitations to your HSA program list of your honorees to the Council 1st VP Order Unit President Pin with one acorn if applicable
