9 Shift Leader Responsibilities
At each cooking and serving shift, we have at least one shift leader. These shift leaders are responsible for guiding volunteers through the shift and ensuring that volunteers are following safe food handling practices. Generally, shift leaders arrive at the CKOne space (Rose Hall 140) 30 minutes prior to when volunteers are arriving to the shift location. Shift leaders gather needed equipment from CKOne to be brought to the shift location 15 minutes prior to volunteer arrival. Shift leaders are also required to stay until the shift is completed and to return all materials to the CKOne space. Shift Leaders must be ServSafe certified*. We will share exam study materials with you and will cover exam costs for those who are committed to volunteering with the Campus Kitchen Shift Leaders are free to sign up on volunteer hub for which ever shifts are for best for them. However, it is preferable that Shift Leaders coordinate with one another to develop a schedule and ensure all shifts have at least one shift leader. Shift leader positions are separate from leadership team positions* Meaning anyone who is ServSafe certified may shift lead at any time, without being "elected".
