2. Qualifications MINGSTAP FTA Cannot have any active FLAGS
1 Year from AIT/BOLC graduation date
10 Years Service for Masters (if FTA used for undergraduate)
Cannot be on any ROTC scholarship (tuition or housing)
Need a degree plan
Must be in good standing with no AWOL or Adverse Action (UCMJ).Can be Flagged for APFT OR H/W
PBED must be before the first day of class.
NO signature from Commander
ETS must be after the last day of class
Can be used with ROTC scholarship
No degree plan needed

3. What Schools Qualify? FTA MINGSTAP Regional Accreditation
National Accreditation
Online schools
Michigan based Colleges or Universities
Online schools that have a campus in Michigan
Any eligible educational institution which means an on line, public or private college, university, vocational school, technical school, or trade school located IN the state of Michigan. If the school is not listed on MING-STAP website then the school needs to sign MOU. Contact your BDE retention rep to make this happen.

4. What degrees can it be used for?
FTA
MINGSTAP
Certificate
Associates Degree (60 SH)
Bachelors Degree (120 SH)
Masters Degree (36-45 SH)
Doctorate or Professional
Must elect one for FTA No lateral degrees
Associate – Baccalaureate – Masters or First Professional and Certificate! ALSO …
Vocational, Technical and Trade school
Soldiers pursuing a lateral degree are not eligible for MING-STAP.
Example: A second Bachelors Degree, or a second Associates degree.

5. What do they pay for? FTA MINGSTAP
$250 per credit hour, 16 per year cap up to $4,000
Pays directly to the school
Up to $600 per semester hour
Up to $6,000 per fiscal year
MING-STAP can also be applied to fees that are required for enrollment (i.e. lab fees), which are not deducted from
the $6000 per fiscal year tuition cap.

6. CAP Exemptions / Solder Responsibility

Enlisted Soldiers must be within 3 years of ETS
Officers still have service obligation

Does not cover Books, room and board, parking permits or late fees

7. When can it be applied for?

Course requests MUST be APPROVED before course start date
Requests must be submitted 10 days prior to course start date
No more than 60 days prior to class start date
No later than 14 days after class start date

8. Recoupment FTA MINGSTAP D> = Recoupment Bachelors
C> = Recoupment Masters
I after 120 days = Recoupment
W for Personal reasons
Schools have 45 days to enter grade
Soldiers who do not obtain 2.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale, will be put on probation and if the next semester you do not get your GPA back to 2.0 MING-STAP will be suspended until GPA is back up.
