3. Last year we worked on improving the following areas….
Curriculum - To deliver high quality P.E lessons which cover the content of the National Curriculum
Health - To increase participation in P.E. and sport so that all pupils can develop healthy lifestyles.
Competition - To increase the amount of competitive sport which children take part in.

2016 – 2017 outcomes:
100% of PE lessons observed were judged good.
PE scheme of work ensures broad coverage of national curriculum objectives for KS1.
The tracking of medium and weekly planning highlights what national curriculum objectives will be targeted.
A gifted and talented register highlights what sports/activities these pupils access out of school.
School funding has provided a variety of resources and equipment that enables better quality of teaching.
Health - To increase participation in P.E. and sport so that all pupils can develop healthy lifestyles.
2016 – 2017 outcomes:
The amount of pupils attending afterschool clubs has increased from the previous year.
Pupil’s fitness scores are recorded termly and have shown an increase throughout the year.
Children have had more exposure to sport through contact with external companies/local sports clubs.
Afterschool clubs have a variety of themes and have a strong emphasis on healthy lifestyle and wellbeing.

5. Competition - To increase the amount of competitive sport which children take part in.
2016 – 2017 outcomes:
All children competed in two or more races/events at Sports Day which was held at Northwood Stadium.
The introduction of termly competitions between Northwood Broom and Hamilton Infants will help prepare children for later life.

6. Pupil Voice!
Callum – I like practising different sports and getting to play other schools. Peyton – I like trying different sports in afterschool club. Mohammed – I like football and scoring lots of goals. Ruby – I like learning new things and getting to play new games. Bolu - I like the games we play at dinner time. Isah – I always play with the basketballs and the different hoops.

7. Parent Voice!
“We continue to appreciate the opportunity for extra sporting activity and my child is keen to learn and play all types of sport, thank you”. “Northwood Broom children showed great sportsmanship and played fantastically”.

8. We now enter Sports Competitions…..
In 2016/17 we introduced competitive matches against our federated school, Hamilton Infants. These competitions were organised to help build relationships between children in the local community and to prepare them for later life. They have a strong emphasis on team work, competition and enjoyment. Following on from the success of these events, we hope to create more opportunities for children to compete and we want to compete against other schools outside of our Federation.

9. We now get to be physically active in more Extra-curricular clubs!.....

Autumn 1 – Reception Multi-Skills, Gifted and Talented, Gymnastics, Invasion Games and Street Dance
Spring 1 – Reception Multi Skills, Gifted and Talented, Team Games, Football and Street Dance.
Summer 1 – Reception Multi-Skills, Gifted and Talented, Gymnastics, Summer Sports and Street Dance.

10. Look how many of us are attending Sports Clubs!
52% of pupils have attended a Sports Club.
39% of Pupil Premium registered pupils have attended a Sports Club.
44% of English as an Additional Language registered pupils have attended a Sports Club.
We want to increase all of these by at least 5% by the end of 2017/18!

11. Next year we aim to introduce:
‘Change 4 Life Program’.
More competitions both within our infant schools and against other schools.
To create partnerships with local clubs.
To continue promoting a healthy lifestyle/wellbeing.
