2 Figure 1 MYC Disrupts Circadian Regulation of Cell Metabolism and Contributes to Transformation The central clock, regulated by sunlight, sends signals to peripheral clocks in tissues to regulate cellular homeostasis. The cellular molecular clocks within tissues are governed by the transcription factors BMAL1 and CLOCK, which bind to E-box sequences to activate oscillating expression in CCGs (clock-controlled genes). MYC, which is also a CCG, binds at E-box domains and causes disruption of normal gene expression oscillations by negatively regulating BMAL1. This contributes to transformation as well as altered cell metabolism. Molecular Cell  , DOI: ( /j.molcel ) Copyright © 2015 Elsevier Inc. Terms and Conditions
