2 Scheme Aims Fit for purpose Effective Equitable Efficient Teamwork
This has been our aims over the past couple of years to make the scheme better and more fit for purpose… and meet demands of the cellular pathology service and participants etc.

3 For 2015…this became evident form the CPT participant meeting in 2014 where innovation was discussed by most of the speakers and stood out What has become evident over the past few years is the innovation in cellpath and the striving for excellence…whether this be by new ideas, more effective processes through sharing of best practice, or more effective equipment…which is achieving excellence through innovation

4 Delivering Confidence in Quality
Most if not all of us are going through laboratory accreditation, but how can we ensure that patients can have confidence in the quality of our / your service provision

5 Thought id look up to see if there was an image that would demonstrate this…google search brought this image up! Super hero for quality! Definition - a benevolent fictional character with superhuman powers, such as Superman a type of heroic character possessing extraordinary talents, supernatural phenomena, or superhuman powers and is dedicated to a moral goal or protecting the public.

6 Delivering Confidence in Quality
Medical Laboratory accreditation (ISO 15189) formal recognition competence and integrity organisations offering evaluation services specific processes, activities or tasks reliable credible and accurate manner Accreditation delivers confidence and underpins the quality of results UKAS provides accreditation to the internationally recognised standard ISO 15189:2012, Medical Laboratories – particular requirements for quality, competence to medical laboratories. Formally recognised Competence and integrity of organisations offering evaluation services Accreditation is the formal recognition that an organisation is competent to perform specific processes, activities or tasks, in a reliable credible and accurate manner Accreditation delivers confidence and underpins the quality of results.

7 Delivering Confidence in Quality
Proficiency Testing Scheme Provider accreditation (ISO/IEC 17043) formal compliance set of internationally-recognised requirement planning and implementation of proficiency testing programs specific processes, activities or tasks Accreditation delivers confidence and underpins the quality of results UKAS provides ISO/IEC accreditation to organisations providing Proficiency Testing Schemes (PT), who wish to demonstrate their competence through formal compliance with a set of internationally-recognised requirements for the planning and implementation of proficiency testing programs. The purpose of proficiency testing is to assess performance of laboratories for their conduct of specific test, measurements or calibrations. Many laboratories operate in isolation from other laboratories and do not have on-going opportunities to compare their data with others. Without such opportunities there are risks that a laboratory’s data may have errors, biases or significant differences compared to similar laboratories. Proficiency testing provides an opportunity to undertake such comparisons and to have an independent appraisal of the laboratory’s data compared to reference values (or other performance criteria) or to the performance of similar laboratories. The results from such participation provide laboratory managers with either a confirmation that the laboratory’s performance is satisfactory or an alert that investigation of potential problems within the laboratory is required.

We also asked similar questions around the muscle Histochemistry scheme

15 Immediately this confirmed as from before that unlike the neuro scheme we do need to include additional methods to the muscle Histochemistry and this is something we need to respond to as a scheme

16

17 We’ve been working closely with some of our specialist participants over the past few weeks to put something together If anyone has already been pulled up on this by UKAS as part of ISO accreditation, more than happy to provide a copy of the proposal if you me.
