1 Thinking that God is Like Man

Man hides from man, so he thinks he can hide from God (Genesis 3:8)

3 Genesis 3:8 And they heard the sound of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God among the trees of the garden.

4 Thinking that God is Like Man
Man hides from man, so he thinks he can hide from God (Genesis 3:8) Man deceives man, so he thinks he can deceive God (Acts 5:1-10, esp.1-3, 4b)

5 Acts 5:1-3, 4b But a certain man named Ananias, with Sapphira his wife, sold a possession. And he kept back part of the proceeds, his wife also being aware of it, and brought a certain part and laid it at the apostles' feet. But Peter said, "Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and keep back part of the price of the land for yourself?… …You have not lied to men but to God.

6 Thinking that God is Like Man
Man hides from man, so he thinks he can hide from God (Genesis 3:8) Man deceives man, so he thinks he can deceive God (Acts 5:1-10, esp.1-3, 4b) Man is slack in his word, so he thinks that God is as well (2 Peter 3:9)

7 2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance

8 Thinking that God is Like Man
Man hides from man, so he thinks he can hide from God (Genesis 3:8) Man deceives man, so he thinks he can deceive God (Acts 5:1-10, esp.1-3, 4b) Man is slack in his word, so he thinks that God is as well (2 Peter 3:9) Man thinks sin is not so bad, and thinks God feels the same way (Isaiah 59:2)

9 Isaiah 59:2 Behold, the Lord's hand is not shortened, That it cannot save; Nor His ear heavy, That it cannot hear. But your iniquities have separated you from your God; And your sins have hidden His face from you, So that He will not hear.

10 Thinking that God is Like Man
Man hides from man, so he thinks he can hide from God (Genesis 3:8) Man deceives man, so he thinks he can deceive God (Acts 5:1-10, esp.1-3, 4b) Man is slack in his word, so he thinks that God is as well (2 Peter 3:9) Man thinks sin is not so bad, and thinks God feels the same way (Isaiah 59:2) Man thinks one religion is as another, and thinks God agrees (Matt. 15:13-14)

11 Matthew 15:13-14 But He answered and said, "Every plant which My heavenly Father has not planted will be uprooted. Let them alone. They are blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind leads the blind, both will fall into a ditch.“ (Jesus’ statement concerning the error of the Pharisees)

12 Conclusion We need to recognize that God does not think like man thinks, and begin seeking to think like God thinks! Isaiah 55:7-9

13 Isaiah 55:7-9 Let the wicked forsake his way, And the unrighteous man his thoughts; Let him return to the Lord, And He will have mercy on him; And to our God, For He will abundantly pardon. “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,” says the Lord. “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts.”
