The Book of Job Our Goal We try to understand as much as possible, not only why we live in a world of evil, but more important, how we are to live in such a world.

The Great Controversy Key Text Zechariah 3:2 “And the Lord said unto Satan, The Lord rebuke thee, O Satan; even the Lord that hath chosen Jerusalem rebuke thee: is not this a brand plucked out of the fire?” Susing Talata. ” (Zacarias 3:2).

Like Job, we are all involved in this controversy.
The Great Controversy Initial Words The Great Controversy theme help us better understand “the total message” of the Bible, especially the plan of salvation. In the book of Job, we are given a clearer glimpse of how Satan and his conflict can powerfully affect life here. Like Job, we are all involved in this controversy. Panimulang Salita.

so that this man was the greatest of all the people of the East.”
The Great Controversy 1. A Little Heaven on Earth Job 1:1-3 NKJV “Job...was blameless...upright...feared God...shunned evil. And seven sons and three daughters were born to him. Also, his possessions were 7000 sheep, camels, 500 yoke of oxen, 500 female donkeys, and a very large households, so that this man was the greatest of all the people of the East.” 1.

1. A Little Heaven on Earth
Blessed in Every Way The word translated in Job 1:1 as “blameless” comes from a word that can mean “complete” or “full of integrity.” The word for “upright” means “straight,” which can give the idea of walking on a straight path. The book opens with an almost Eden-like scene depicting a wealthy man of faithfulness and integrity who has it all.

EGW, The SDA Bible Comm. 3:1140 “Amid the festivities of his sons and daughters, he trembled lest his children should displease God. As a faithful priest of the household, he offered sacrifices for them individually. He knew the offensive character of sin, and the thought that his children might forget the divine claims, led him to God as an intercessor in their behalf.” EGW, The SDA Bible Comm. 3:1140.

Clearly Job had it good, about as good as it can get here.
1. A Little Heaven on Earth All in a Fallen World Clearly Job had it good, about as good as it can get here. A man with a full life, big family, a great name, and many possessions—it’s still a life lived on a fallen planet steeped in sin, and so, as Job will soon see, it comes with all the dangers that existence here brings.

‘All that he has is in your power; only
The Great Controversy 2. Cosmic Conflict Entered Earth Job 1:8-12 NKJV “The Lord said to Satan, ‘Have you considered...Job, that there is none like him...,blameless...upright, fears God and shuns evil?’ So Satan answered..., ‘Does Job fear God for nothing? You have blessed...his hands.... Touch all that he has, and he will curse you...!’ The Lord said..., ‘All that he has is in your power; only do not lay a hand on his person.’ ” 2. ...

Satan’s Challenge Though the text doesn’t explicitly say that this confrontation was in heaven, that’s surely where it was. And thus you have this created being, an angel, standing before God in heaven and challenging Him to His face, before other “sons of God.” It’s hard to imagine a being doing so to God Himself. How could this happen?

The opening scenes of the book of Job show us a few crucial points.
2. Cosmic Conflict Entered Earth Job as a Microcosm The opening scenes of the book of Job show us a few crucial points. They (1) reveal the reality of a heavenly dimension with heavenly beings other than God; (2) show how inter-connected our earthly life here is with the heavenly realm; Si Job na isang Munting Halimbawa. (3) reveal a moral conflict in heaven that is connected to what happens on earth.

These opening texts, and the ones
2. Cosmic Conflict Entered Earth Job as a Microcosm These opening texts, and the ones that follow, are a kind of miniportrayal of the great controversy itself. The texts show one way in which the great controversy, though cosmic in scale, was manifested in the life of one man, Job. And as we will see, the issue involved encompass us all.

2. Cosmic Conflict Entered Earth
Job as a Microcosm The law of love is the foundation of God’s government. Because God does not want “forced obedience,” He “grants freedom of will” to all His moral creatures. However, “there was one who perverted the freedom.... Sin originated with him who, next to Christ... was highest in power and glory among the inhabitants of heaven”(Patriarchs and Prophets 34, 35).

The Great Controversy 3. The Cross Answered Conflict Hebrews 2:14, 15 NKJV “Inasmuch then as the children have partaken of flesh and blood. He Him-self likewise shared in the same, that through death He might destroy him who had the power of death, that is, the devil, and release those who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.” 3.

3. The Cross Answered Conflict
Ends the Great Controversy Despite Satan’s major role in all that follows in the book—after appearing only twice in Job (Job 1:6–12, 2:1–7)—Satan does not come into view again. He simply vanishes, even though the destruction that he caused remains. Almost all that follows in the book is about God, not Satan. The book of Job is about God and what He is really like.

3. The Cross Answered Conflict
Ends the Great Controversy Nevertheless, the Bible doesn’t leave us without answers to the question about the defeat of Satan in the great controversy. And central to that defeat is the death of Jesus on the cross. At the cross, Satan fully was exposed to the universe for what he really is, a murderer.

Here and now the divine promise, made before the world began
3. The Cross Answered Conflict Ends the Great Controversy At the cross, when the Savior died for “the sins of the whole world” (1 John 2:2), only then could Heaven proclaim that salvation has now come. Here and now the divine promise, made before the world began (2 Tim. 1:9), became a reality.

After Calvary, Satan’s doom
3. The Cross Answered Conflict Ends the Great Controversy Christ could be “just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus” (Rom. 3:26, NKJV). He refuted the devil’s charges that God could not uphold His law (be just) and still, at the same time, save those who have broken that law (the justifier).
25
The Great Controversy Final Words: Great Controversy 498, 499. “The inhabitants of heaven and of other worlds, being unprepared to comprehend the nature or conse-quences of sin, could not then have seen the justice and mercy of God in the destruction of Satan. Had he been immediately blotted from existence, they would have served God from fear rather than from love.”
