Points of Pride One of five large school district finalists for H-E-B Excellence in Education Award Third consecutive year on the National AP Honor Roll Ranked eighth in the nation in large student population category for the Digital School District Survey Award 2017 Best Communities for Music Education for seventh consecutive year The Class of 2017 earned more than $31 million in scholarships 95% of parents indicate their child feels safe at school. NISD has been nationally recognized for security efforts and serves as a model across the nation in security programs. State and national recognition for Excellence in Financial Reporting NISD’s Twitter was ranked No. 1 Texas school district accounts for Region XI 60 students have signed NCAA athletic scholarships

Areas of Need NISD will increase the number of students identified as reading on or above grade level in grades K-3 (end of 2nd Grade) through an aligned emphasis of professional development, curriculum development and alignments, and performance monitoring tools intended to meet the goals set forth in the NISD Profile of a Graduate. NISD will continue to align with the Profile of a Graduate by increasing opportunities, participation, and performance in the area of Advanced Academics and enhance the curriculum and resources in order to improve the overall learning experience for students.

Areas of Need To increase academic success of students within Performance Based Monitoring Analysis System (PBMAS) subgroups – Bilingual/English as a Second Language, Career and Technology, No Child Left Behind (Title 1), and Special Education. To support campus instructional programs by enhancing the curriculum and resources in order to improve overall learning experiences for students.
