(1a) Men (78%, n = 189) with typical discharge treated for gonorrhoea (azithromycin 1 g plus ceftriaxone 500 mg) on the day of test; (2a) men (6%, n = 15) with other symptoms treated for gonorrhoea on the day of test; (2b) men (5%, n = 12) with other symptoms treated for non-gonococcal urethritis (azithromycin 1 g or doxycycline 100 mg twice daily for 7 days) on the day of test; (3a) men (3%, n = 6) with no symptoms treated for gonorrhoea on the day of the test because of reported contact with gonorrhoea; (3b) men (7%, n = 17) with no symptoms not treated for gonorrhoea on the day of test; (3c) men (1%, n = 3) with no symptoms on the day of test who developed typical discharge later.
