2. The Biosphere
The biosphere is the portion of the Earth that is inhabited by life
1. Biosphere- part of Earth where life exists
a. Includes all living and non-living parts
b. Biota- collection of just living things in biosphere

Earth contains 4 connected systems: -Biosphere -Hydrosphere -Atmosphere -Geosphere

5. The Hydrosphere
The Earth’s liquid water constitutes the hydrosphere.

6. The Hydrosphere
The vast majority of Earth’s water is in the oceans (salt water), with smaller, but geologically important, quantities of fresh water in lakes, rivers, and ground water.
Oceans hold ~75% of the Earth’s water

Rain, snow, sleet, or hail that falls to the ground.

Evaporation is the process by which water changes from a liquid to a gas or vapor
