13. Winter and Summer Academies
The WTI’s Winter and Summer Academies cover cutting-edge issues in trade and investment law and policy. The courses are designed for working professionals and higher-education students with limited time. Students can take single weekly courses and earn a Certificate of Attendance, or take multiple courses and become eligible for a CAS or DAS.

14. CAS and DAS Programmes
Students participate in intensive, week-long courses on a wide range of topics including international economic governance, trade and investment. These interdisciplinary courses, which are part of the MILE programme, are taught by a faculty of renowned experts and practitioners.

16. Trade: Big Data and RESPECT
The Governance of Big Data in Trade Agreements: Design, Diffusion and Implications 3-year project started in May 2017 and examines the pertinent trade rules that impinge on Big Data. It seeks to achieve not only cutting-edge basic research results but also to have palpable policy impact.

18. Sustainability: CLISEL and CLI_M_CO2
Climate Security with Local Authorities (CLISEL) By exploring the climate-security nexus from the perspective of local administrations and communities, the CLISEL project addresses the question of how Europe can be secured from the impacts of climate change in third countries.

Framing Environmental Degradation, Human Mobility and Human Development as a Matter of Common Concern CLI_M_CO2 aims to approach environmental migration from a fresh perspective, regarding the issue as a 'common concern of humankind'. The project involves a case study in the South Pacific region that focuses on the 'sinking islands' in order to propose a novel approach to migration governance and state responsibility.

19. Sustainability: Switzerland’s Sustainability Footprint
and Common Concern
NRP 73: Switzerland’s Sustainability Footprint: Economic and Legal Challenges Developing new measures of sustainability footprint targets for the Swiss economy, extending the literature on the effectiveness of alternative tax-based and voluntary instruments in meeting these targets, and addressing treaty-based constraints on the use of alternative instruments.
Common Concern Project Exploring the legal potential of the ‘Common Concern of Humankind’: climate change; biodiversity, with a particular focus on the law of the sea; monetary affairs, corporate responsibility; and human rights.

20. Investment: BRICS and EDIT
BRICS Globalisation and Labour Protections This project investigates under what conditions BRICS trade and foreign direct investment (FDI) enhances (or undermines) worker rights and conditions and labour market institutions, with a particular focus on European countries and the BRICS themselves.

EDIT Project The Electronic Database of Investment Treaties (EDIT) is a new systematic and comprehensive database on international investment agreements, including available texts in one single language (English) and format (XML).
