“4: Whereby, when ye read, ye may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ” (Eph. 3).

It is not enough to just memorize scripture or read it, we are to learn the meaning. Learning in this sense involves imbibing with our understanding and heart; it implies practical and full application.

It is God’s design and desire that the assembly be used for education. In general, all of God’s people are to learn.

To show piety at home means to address the physical needs of those within our households and those such as parents and grandparents. What a sweeping change this would make (if all did it) regarding the financial draw involving America (relief programs, etc.) and also institutional churches of Christ (churches that support homes for the aged, etc.).

9: And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him” (Heb. 5)
Many in America and even in the church today are defiant. Suffering is needed to produce a contrite spirit of obedience.

The importance and urgency of learning is seen in 2 Peter 3: 16. We need knowledge to avoid spiritual destruction.
