Tutoring should never be reserved for the morning of the test; instead, students are encouraged to come in for help as soon as they feel they do not understand the material. 7 This year we’re mixing things up!
We have a new scope and sequence Formerly- Fall Semester Biology at a Micro level Spring Semester Biology at a Macro level This year we’re mixing things up!

8 Semester I Intro to Biology Biochemistry Intro to the cell
Taxonomy & Classification Introduction to Ecology Properties of water Nutrient Cycles Energy transfer (Cellular Respiration & Photosynthesis) Ecology The Working Cell (cell transport & energy) Cell Cycle - Mitosis - Cancer DNA- Structure & Replication

9 Semester II Protein Synthesis & Gene Technology Mendelian Genetics
Meiosis Human Inheritance Evolution Microbiology Human Body Systems Dissections- starfish, frog, eye, brain, heart, kidney, rat

10 Studying for Biology There is no single "best" way to study.
Each individual must find the best method for them. This may even vary for a given individual depending on the subject matter. However, three components are common to all: (1) repetition (2) effort (3) time Actively studying requires effort- learning is hard work. It also takes time, there are no shortcuts.

11 Responsible Learning Includes…
Read the chapter/ material- before class. Active listening- DON’T zone out! Ask questions!! Each night, actively read over the notes as the material builds. Tutoring is available for questions, clarification… TURN OFF all electronic devices during study!!! Go through the power point along with the notes Complete all assignments- they have a purpose! Understand the relationships between concepts. If a review sheet is offered- do it- thoroughly! If a bad test grade is earned- learn from it!

12 I am so happy to meet you and I look
forward to the rest of the year with your students!!
