Shield Volcanoes A wide, gently sloping mountain made from thin layers of lava that pour out of a vent and harden on top of previous layers.

Cinder Cone Volcanoes Cone-shaped hill or mountain that is formed from ash, cinders, and bombs that build up from volcanic eruptions.

Composite Volcanoes Tall, cone-shaped mountains in which layers of lava alternate with layers of ash.
