1936 – Rhineland –former German territory Alliance with Mussolini
1937 – Alliance with Japan
1938 – takes Austria and Sudetenland
1939 – takes all of Czechoslovakia and makes a non-agression pact with Stalin – planned to split Poland.
1939 – September 1 attacks Poland  officially starts World War II because France and Britain had promised to protect their ally, Poland, if Hitler attacks. September 3 – Britain and France declare war on Germany). Blitzkreig (lightning war) – working with Stalin, it takes two months to conquer Poland.
1940 – Spring – Denmark, Norway, Belgium, Luxembourg
1940 – June 22 – France
1940 – July – Battle of Britain – RAF v. Luftwaffe. Radar helps RAF destroy 2300 Luftwaffe aircraft. Hitler cancels invasion of Britain.
1941 – March – Lend-Lease to Great Britain and China
1941 – June Hitler attacks the Soviet Union. Soviet Union join Allies.
1941 – November – Lend-Lease to Soviet Union

5. WWII Begins in the Pacific – America enters the War.
Japan conquered most of China in the 30s. Moved into the rest of Southeast Asia. For oil and other resources.
July 1941 – Japan takes French Indochina. US freezes exports and Japanese funds in American banks.
Dec – Pearl Harbor American battleships and 200 planes destroyed.
Dec – US declares war on Japan. Germany declares war on United States.
