Population UN raises world population forecast to 9.8 billion people by 2050 due to rapid growth in Africa. The world's population will grow to 8.6 billion in 2030, 9.8 billion in 2050 and 11.2 billion in 2100, driven by faster growth in African countries, according to forecasts by the United Nations. Poverty In the EU 2020, the plan was to lift 20 million out of poverty. It is now 24 million and increasing. A study by Oxford Poverty & Human Development initiative, countries among the most impoverished in the world could see acute poverty eradicated within 20 years. But they must commit. OECD- Unless climate change is managed some 3 billion of the planets population will fall into extreme poverty. Which of the above statements is a trend? Child Poverty On average across OECD countries 13.5% of children live in income poverty. In five OECD countries (Chile, Israel, Spain, Turkey and the United States) more than 20% of children live in poverty, with rates particularly high – at around 25% in Israel and Turkey. In contrast, other OECD countries (Denmark, Finland, Germany, Iceland, Ireland, Norway, Slovenia, Sweden, and Switzerland) less than 10% of children live in income poverty.
