3. Simple Fleshy Fruits Only 1 pistil Drupe
A fruit in which the outer fleshy part and skin ( exo and meso carp) encompasses a pit (seed)

4. Simple Fleshy Fruits Pome A fruit composed of one or more carpels
The bulk of flesh comes from an enlarged tube that grows up around the ovary

Note also the "cultivated banana" is parthenocarpic (its fruit develops without fertilization so there are no seeds.)

9. Aggregate Fruit
These are complex fruits (from more than one ovary).  Note the fruits here are from many carpels on a single flower.

10. Multiple Fruit
These fruits are from carpels of many flowers fused together in single florescence.  The flowers mature separately into fruitlets then develop together into a single larger fruit

11. Dry Fruits These are fruits whose "mesocarp" is dry at maturity.

12. Activity #1
Now that you have learned about the fruit, when I say FRUIT you are going to get up and walk around the room with a clip board, paper and a writing utensil and examine the various fruits that are on each desk. You are going to categorize the fruit, and discuss with your group (people from your table) about the parts of the fruit (ovary, pistil, mesocarp, ect.)
You will turn in this paper at the end of the hour. EVERYONE must do it!
Fruit dissection will begin tomorrow (FRIDAY)
