Contactin-associated protein-like 2 (Caspr2) connects to the dimerized contactin-2 (also known as TAG-1) and to disks large homologue 4 (PSD95). This complex organizes KV1 potassium channels. Patients' antibodies bind to the extracellular region of Caspr2, possibly abrogating the Caspr2–contactin-2 interaction.
