Go to your new assigned seat QUIETLY. Get out your binder and open to a clean sheet of paper. On your paper, copy the quote below then state whether you agree or disagree with the statement: “Everyone learns the same way.” Be prepared to justify your answer.

This week: We are going to be learning about different learning styles! The better we understand how we learn best, the more we can focus on using our inherent skills to our advantage in school! Knowing your preferred learning style also helps you to know what types of learning you may need to practice and focus on more!

VARK Neil Fleming, an educational theorist, came up with an acronym for the four main types of learning styles: V: visual A: auditory R: reading/writing K: kinesthetic

V Visual Visual learners prefer the use of images, maps and other graphic organizers to access and understand new information.

R Reading/Writing People with a strong read/write preference for learning like: lists, notes and text in all its formats and whether in print or online.

K Kinesthetic These people learn best by using their senses and participating in physical activities and manipulations; such as building a model and other hands-on approaches.
