2 KEY CHANGES FOR 2005 HECS is replaced by HECS-HELP and all Commonwealth supported students will be allocated 7 years of student learning entitlement (SLE). PELS (the loan scheme for postgraduate coursework) is replaced by FEE-HELP and is extended to eligible domestic full fee paying undergraduate students. OS-HELP is available for eligible Commonwealth supported students who are approved to go on an overseas exchange. Commonwealth Learning Scholarships (CLS) are available to all eligible Commonwealth supported students. From 2005 every student in receipt of Commonwealth Assistance must have a Commonwealth Higher Education Student Support Number (CHESSN). STUDENTS SHOULD READ THE ENROLMENT GUIDE AND INFORMATION THEY RECEIVE FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION, SCIENCE AND TRAINING (DEST) FOR FURTHER DETAILS.

3 IMPORTANT ENROLMENT REMINDER
Census date is the cut off date at which the University reports enrolments to the Government. If you have not finalised payment of all fees and charges by this date your enrolment will be cancelled. SEMESTER 1, THE CENSUS DATE IS 31 MARCH 2005 SEMESTER 2, THE CENSUS DATE IS 31 AUGUST 2005 THIS REQUIREMENT IS THE SAME AS ALL YEARS BUT FROM 2005 THE CONSEQUENCES OF NOT ENSURING THEIR ENROLMENT IS FINALISED BY CENSUS IS MUCH MORE SERIOUS AND THEIR ENROLMENT WILL BE CANCELLED.

4 What is included in Fees & Charges?
Student Contribution Amount – previously called HECS Tuition fees Student Services Charge Various Administrative Charges – eg. Late enrolment charge, late payment charge NEED TO EMPHASIS THAT THIS IS THE STUDENTS RESPONSIBILITY AND THEY NEED TO KEEP TRACK OF S SENT TO THEIR STUDENT ACCOUNT AND RED ACTION ALERTS ON MYSI-NET.

5 Consequences – Late Enrolment
For enrolment to be effective – all fees and charges must be paid; If fees or charges are not paid the students enrolment will be cancelled after census date; In exceptional circumstances students can apply to the Academic Registrar for late enrolment. THE ACADEMIC REGISTRAR WILL ONLY APPROVE ENROLMENTS AFTER CENSUS DATE IN VERY EXTREME CIRCUMSTANCES. A STUDENT WOULD HAVE TO BE ABLE TO PROVIDE STRONG SUPPORTING EVIDENCE THAT IT WAS BEYOND THEIR CONTROL TO FINALISE THEIR ENROLMENT PRIOR TO CENSUS DATE.
