(1. 6) Geometry and measurement
(1.6) Geometry and measurement. The student applies mathematical process standards to analyze attributes of two- dimensional shapes and three-dimensional solids to develop generalizations about their properties. (A)The student is expected to classify and sort regular and irregular two- dimensional shapes based on attributes using informal geometric language.

Translation, reflection, and rotation are types of transformations.
Transformations: the movement of objects in the coordinate plane. The original shape of the object is called the pre-image and the final shape and position of the object is the image under the transformation. Translation, reflection, and rotation are types of transformations.
4
Example of transformations:
6
Translation or (slide):
A transformation of the plane that slides every point of a figure the same distance in the same direction.

9
Reflection or (flip): A transformation in which a geometric figure is reflected across a line, creating a mirror image. That line is called the axis of reflection.
10
Example of reflection:
12
Rotation or (turn): A transformation in which a plane figure turns around a fixed center point. In other words, one point on the plane, the center of rotation, is fixed and everything else on the plane rotates about that point by a given angle.

Example of rotation:
