A Happy 100th Birthday card signed by many of Dr. Bing's close colleagues and relatives. Due to space constraint, all the original signatures and messages had to be photocopied, adjusted in size, and rearranged so as to fit on a composite birthday card. The Chinese calligraphy in front of my signature is written by me and means ‘hundred years of long life’.

The Chinese character for heart (), pronounced xin, (A) bears a close resemblance to the anterior surface of the heart (B). Besides meaning the heart, the Chinese character has also been incorporated as a phonemic component of 18 other Chinese characters in each of which is the word heart, written either as such (1) or as a middle (2), bottom (3,4,5,16,17,18), left (6,7,8,9,10,11,12,13,14,15) or both left and bottom (6) radicals, as indicated by the arrows (C). D shows the first four all containing the Chinese character for heart as indicated by the arrows in 2, 3 and 4: the second character means love, the third character means thinking, and the fourth character means kindness.
