Who attended? In total 27 people attended. This included: 4 NHS Southwark Clinical Commissioning Group representatives 19 Patients representing the North and South 4 people from community and voluntary organisations The following practices PPGs were represented: North Nexus Princess Street Manor Place Surgery/ Sir John Kirk Close Blackfriars Albion Street Forest Hill Penrose Surgery Villa Street New Mill Street South Crystal Palace Road Lister - Hurley Group Practice St Giles Dulwich Medical Centre Chadwick Road Camberwell Green Melbourne Grove Concordia Parkside Hambleden

3 What’s happening locally?
We had representation from: Time4Southwark – Alison Paule, Naomi Casserly and Kemi Adebaye. Reaching Communities, Community Southwark - Truly Johnston On the evening, patients were invited to view videos of initiatives from PPG’s around the country. In a separate area, our guests were asked join Time4Southwark and Community Southwark to discuss initiatives they would like to see implemented in their own PPG’s Time4Southwark– suggestions from patients Reducing isolation, especially for mothers, Project based around a Zumba class where the teacher would earn time credits and participants would pay in credits which they would themselves earn by sharing skills

4 Reaching communities, Community Southwark– suggestions from patients
To have a cardiac support group to incorporate mindfulness and wellbeing within the practice. Where people can go and talk to others that may have been newly diagnosed with cardiac problems and discuss how they are coping with their diagnosis, what it means for them moving forward and to give/receive advise on how to deal their medical condition. Dancing sessions or a tea dance in partnership with Time and Talents in order to bring people together, increase fitness, reduce isolation etc. Doing something around healthy walks – perhaps working with Brockwell Park or Glengall Wharf More support and awareness around Diabetes within the BAME community. Zumba classes. Working with people who are unemployed, have depression or obesity.

5 Next steps The closing date for submission of application forms is Friday 26 May 2017 The application forms must be signed by the patient chair of the PPG and a practice member of staff A meeting will be held on 1 June to discuss the applications, where a decision will be made Practice PPG’s will be notified as to who has achieved a winning application week commencing 5 June
