The Fall of Man Genesis 3
2
The Serpent’s attack The Serpent tempts Eve by making her question God’s goodness whether God said that they eat of every tree. The Serpent makes Eve doubt God for holding back the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. The Woman adds, “Not touch it, lest we die” The Woman misunderstands and misinterprets God’s initial command

Man’s Failure Man fails to have dominion over the serpent and is disobedient in his the creation mandate God had given him in Genesis 1:28 Man fails to lead the woman spiritually and disobeys God’s command as well. He eats the fruit just like the woman. Their eyes are opened and they realize they are naked and ashamed, they clothe themselves in an attempt to cover their sin.
4
Man’s Failure When God seeks Man, both man and woman are in hiding.
Man and Woman shift blame for their sin. God curses: The Serpent – on the ground you will go The Woman – pain in childbirth & at odds with her husband Man – work becomes harder.

Reference to Christ In the midst of the curse on the serpent, God gives a reference to Christ. He says that there will be enmity between the woman and the serpent but that the seed of the woman will crush the head of the serpent There is also a reference to the atonement: God slaughters an animal in order to cover Adam and Eve. This shows that blood must be shed to atone for sins
