The astronauts had no knowledge of the o-ring issue. If you were project manager would you have told them? Why or why not?
If you were the project leader for NASA, what would you have done differently at launch time? They called the company in Utah, talked, and took their recommendations. In the position would you have done the same?
Well before launch an engineer was sent out to inspect the o-rings. He found problems. He was given no support for testing the o-rings. If you were in his shoes, what would you have done to gain that support and complete the needed testing. He felt isolated with no support. As project manager for the company, what would you do to remedy that. Keep in mind cost of testing, personnel to do the testing, etc.

You can now see there is a connection between life and many products you use each day. Choose one product. Think and list at least five items the project teams had to deal with or overcome to make sure the product is safe.
