Compare the distance different types of radiation can travel (GOOD)
Answer:-The most penetrating type of radiation is alpha radiation, followed by gamma and then beta radiation. Alpha particles are stopped by paper, Aluminium and Lead. Beta particles are only stopped by Lead and Gamma are stopped by Lead and thick concrete.
2) Describe how alpha, beta and gamma radiation can be separated (EXCELLENT)
Answer:- They can be separated by using a magnetic or an electric field. Alpha particles, beta particles and gamma waves are not deflected by a magnetic filed. An electric field separates them because alpha particles are attracted to the negative plate because they are also negative. Beta particles are attracted to the positive and gamma waves are undeflected.
3) Compare the different types of radiation in detail along with their properties

Answer:-Alpha particles are the same as a hydrogen nucleus and are comprised of two protons and 2 electrons. Beta particles are high energy electrons. Gamma rays are electromagnetic waves. Alpha particles are harder to deflect than beta particles in a magnetic filed because they have a smaller mass. Alpha particles and beta particles are deflected in opposite directions.
Gamma waves are not deflected because they are negative. In an electric field alpha particles are attracted to the positive terminal and beta particles are attracted to the negative terminal. This is because opposite charges attract.
