James River Blues by Old Crow Medicine Show James River blues That train came on through And the work's gotten slow Now where’s a boat man to go I think I'll float on down To Richmond town They don't need us anymore Haulin' freight from shore to shore That big iron hauls much more Than we ever could before

16 Create a River Community!
Community: A group of people living in the same place Draw a river from one side of your paper to the other. Around the river, create a “river community”– a group of people whose lives center around the river. Think about: How are the lives of people in your community centered around the river? How do they use the river on a daily basis?

17 Group Work: Work with your group. Talking to another group can distract them from their tasks and hinder their learning as well as your own. Direct your attention toward the members of your group at all times. Stay on task. As interesting as the football game or TV show on last night is, you are in class and should remain focused on group assignments.
