Useful to remember that this is a curriculum built on children’s ability to make choices and take initiative.

3. Our Typical Weekly Activities
Flexible timetable
Play: cycle of planning, observation and assessment.
Collective Worship (daily) and RE
Circle Time: teaching togetherness, imagination, listening skills; kindness and behaviour all through games and singing!
Adult led phonics, literacy, mathematics, topic.
Funky Fingers: getting the body ready for writing and developing motor skills.
BIG writing: cursive letter formation.
Flexible timetable so that we can respond to what the children show us they need.
Play:
Levels of child initiated “play” will change throughout the year.; especially as we near the end of Reception.

4. How Families can help at Home …
Reading 5 times per week
Self care/independence: dressing, gathering belongings ready for the day, using the loo, using cutlery.
Passport Maths packs (January)
Star Slips

5. Bits & Bobs Newsletters
Parents’ Evening Meetings: successes and challenges, settling/social wellbeing, curriculum areas, next steps, concerns
Reports: Summer terms
Cursive Handwriting: it is a journey; BIG Writing.
Reading: Reading Records and Phonics Mats, Guided Reading, Reading Passports
Medicines / Nits , etc.
Accidents at school: injury bands, head injury forms
Letters: please give notes and reply slips to Mrs Stagg in the office.
PPA/Specialist Teaching on a Wednesday: Mr Turner (Music) & Mrs Robbins (PE).
PE Kit: Shorts, t-shirt, jumper, trousers, socks; Outdoor shoes; Wellies; Waterproof; Warm coat; Spare clothes
